Welcome to SOSOLO! We are a peer-based, volunteer-run organization, located in the General Toronto Area (GTA). SOSOLO offers support services to families, friends and communities directly impacted by having a loved one enmeshed in criminal justice/correctional system(s). We also focus a great deal on public education - speaking to people about the impacts criminalization/incarceration have on the above named groups.
We hope you will take some time to look around the website and learn in more detail about the essence of SOSOLO, and how if interested you can become involved with the important work that we do. If you have any questions or are interested in becoming a member/volunteer, please do not hesitate to contact us. As well, we are always interested in hearing your feedback, so please contact us with your thoughts and/or questions.
SOSOLO would like to take this opportunity to say how much we appreciate the generosity of Groundswell, for without them this website would not have been possible.
SOSOLO is primarily a volunteer-run organization. As, such we deeply as we appreciate all donations of goods, services, and financial support we receive to assist with the important work that SOSOLO does with families, friends and communities impacted by criminal justice/correctional systems.
SOSOLO appreciates donations of gift cards for: grocery stores, restaurants, bowling alleys, movie theaters and anything you can think of that contributes to the provision of food and/or group outings for our peer-support group meetings. In addition, we often distribute gift certificates to members for: stores that can be used to purchase toiletries/basic needs, children's clothing, toys, and for Trappcall (a telephone provider used to receive discounted phone calls from loved ones in prison). We also welcome donations of TTC tokens/tickets to make the attendance at support meetings more accessible to members living in poverty.
To make a financial donation, please call/email us to arrange this, as we are currently in the process of setting up an on-line donation system. We would like to thank-you very much in advance for your support!
